Math-M-Addicts Talent Search

About Talent Search

Math-M-Addicts Talent Search is designed for low-income students in grades 5-7 attending public schools in the NYC area. We strive to provide these budding mathematicians an opportunity to build both math skills and confidence while discovering the complex and exciting world of mathematical problem solving.

Students whose families meet the income criteria and the school criteria may qualify for the program based on their performance on the SP100 exam.  The stronger performers will be enrolled in the SP100 class and will also have access to regular tutoring to help them master concepts or answer any other questions they have on the class material.  Both the class and tutoring are completely free.

The class aims to broaden students' understanding and appreciation of mathematical concepts, introducing kids to proofs, logic, strategic thinking, basic combinatorics, divisibility, and various problem solving techniques. Part of the class will also be devoted to games, contests and working in teams. We also focus on teaching students to explain their solutions logically and clearly to their classmates and teachers.

SP100 classes will be online on Saturdays from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm, with 2 to 4 hours of homework per week, from mid-September until June.
